absence.io was founded in Munich at the beginning of 2014 by Nikbin Rohany, Karsten Grombach and Tim Kahrmann. Their big goal was to simplify personnel management in small and medium-sized companies by means of smart modular applications - absence management made easy.

Vacations and other absences are still managed manually in an alarming number of companies. In fact, to this day, vacation requests are often a time-consuming and tedious undertaking (although it should basically be no more difficult than ordering a cup of coffee). Our solution is a simple software that even small teams can use to automate their leave management and other HR processes cost-effectively and end up saving time and cash.

At first, absence.io started with a basic absence management system. But there's more to smart HR management than just vacation and absence planning. That's why we added our personnel file in 2017: cloud-based, accessible from anywhere, all data digitally in one place, with a personnel questionnaire for each employee and enough space for data storage. In 2018, time tracking was added - with simple "start-stop-continue" technology and connection to absence management. Intuitive, fast and simple - via browser, app and at that time still via hardware terminal. In 2021, we replaced this with an unbeatably easy-to-handle app solution for tablets. These functions were completed in 2023 by the expense management.

We are working every day on making our software even more intuitive, to improve existing functions and to add new ones, in order to continuously simplify its handling. To this end, we not only put a lot of our own brainpower into the development, presentation and functionality of the tool, but also constantly pick up ideas from our customers. Because after all, they are the ones who use our software on a daily basis and know best where there is some room for improvement.
